Der RadioProfiler ist eine Android-Anwendung (ab Android 2.1) – die App sammelt und überträgt anonym Daten über die Qualität des Mobilfunknetzes und die Position. Die Daten werden auf dieser Seite zusammengetragen und können so öffentlich eingesehen werden

Welches Mobilfunknetz ist das Beste für mich? Wo ist welches Netz wie gut zu erreichen und wie schnell ist es da? Welches soll ich meinen Freunden empfehlen?

Der Empfang in den verschiedenen Netzen ist an einigen Orten sehr unterschiedlich und auch die Geschwindigkeit des Internets schwankt je nach Netzbetreiber stark. Am gleichen Ort kann es bei einem Netzbetreiber zu Verbindungsabbrüchen kommen, während in einem anderen Netz mit voller Geschwindigkeit im Internet gesurft werden kann. Für welchen Netzbetreiber man sich entscheidet ist somit immer eine schwierige Wahl. Erfahrungsberichte sind sehr subjektiv und die Netzbetreiber geben nur sehr grobes Kartenmaterial zur Abdeckung heraus.

Mit meiner Website möchte ich versuchen bei der Beantwortung dieser Frage zu helfen und dafür benötige ich Euch. Ich habe eine App geschrieben die regelmäßig das Mobilfunknetz testet und die Ergebnisse auf meinen Server hochlädt, um daraus eine Karte zu erstellen. Dazu brauche ich Eure Mithilfe, denn nur mit genug testenden Geräten kann die Karte auch gute Hinweise liefern.

Die bisherigen Ergebnisse könnt Ihr Euch unter http://radioprofiler.sockenschubla.de ansehen. Dort findet Ihr auch einige Informationen zu den übermittelten Daten und eurer Privatsphäre. Aber schon hier möchte ich erwähnen, dass ich sehr viel Wert auf den Datenschutz gelegt habe. Die einzelnen Benutzer der App sind nicht identifizierbar und es werden keine Daten weitergegeben. Solltet Ihr mehr wissen wollen, schreibt mir einfach.

Die Anwendung benötigt Android 2.1 und Ihr findet sie, wenn Ihr im Android-Market nach “RadioProfiler” sucht, oder den angehängten QR-Code scannt. Die App kann auch unter http://radioprofiler.sockenschubla.de/RadioProfiler.apk direkt heruntergeladen werden.

Ich persönlich finde nicht nur die Idee ansich recht gut und denke, dass dieses Projekt durchaus unterstützenswert ist.

Even though I had a lot of meetings, there was some time left to stroll around the city and get a look at the main sights.

As for the city itself – Nantes is quite nice with lots of churches and a quite nice château (des ducs de Bretagne). What’s really fantastic is that’s impossible to starve in Nantes – every 5m there’s a Creperie or some other kind of restaurant, and you don’t have to put up with the usual known fast-food places. If, however, you decide to go to the city centers only McD, be prepared to spend some time waiting in line – whenever I went by there, the cue of waiting people went out the front door…

Startingpoint was Scharnitz on the border to Germany.

The tour is fairly easy with not too many meters to climb (some 900m) and the with approx. 39km (return) is easily done in 3 hours.

From the parking in Scharnitz you simply have to follow the signs to Larchet Alm and to Karwendelhaus – you can’t really miss it. Even though the tour is not too hard, it’s well worth a go – the landscape and the views you get to see are fantastic.

From the Karwendelhaus you can also start some nice climbing tours to the surrounding mountains, or you continue on with the mountain bike to the Falkenhütte or the Großer or Kleiner Ahornboden.

Hochalmsattel & some cows

In winter you can ski on both sides of the mountains – to the North in the skiing area of the Axamer Lizum and to the South in the so-called Schlick2000 area.

The Kalkögel also some amazing hiking and climbing trails, and as they are not far from Innsbruck, the are pretty popular among the “Innsbrucker”

So just to give you a hint of what the Kalkkögel look like, here two panorama photos, the first one – the A-side – from the Schlick2000 side, the second one – the B-side – from the Kemater Alm and Axamer Lizum side.

On the way to the Wetterkreuz through the Wörgetal you pass the Buchersee, which is a lovely little lake looking very inviting for a swim, but beware – it’s pretty cold as it’s fed by the surrounding mountains…

Eventhough it’s a pretty easy tour, it offers some amazing views. Just a few meters below the actual goal, you get a great view over the Wörgetal, which you’ve just hiked up and the mountains surrounding the valley and Kühtai.

Finally, after a short, but step climb you reach the Wetterkreuz and can enjoy an amazing look at the Acherkogel (3.007m) and the Oetztaler Alps in the background, as well as the Oetztal and the Mieminger Kette further to the North (to the right).

already in December 2009 I ordered a Felt Brougham Fixie to replace my Specialized Langster New York (I somehow got tired of the yellow). estimated shipping: February 2010

in February I already heard rumors that Felt is way behind with the Brougham (in Europe) and in Mid April the dealer I ordered the Brougham at told me he had to cancel the order, as he was cancelling his contract with Felt as they were too unreliable (he had quite a few people waiting for the Brougham).

so that was that, and as a consolation I bought a Scott Scale 29er MTB – which brought me back to mountainbiking.

Now, after surfing around on the net for a bit, I saw that the Brougham is finally available, and even though I hadn’t planned to go for it, I just did it anyway…
